If you have experience using hand tools, love working with machinery, and take pride in fixing and assembling things the right way, TrailersPlus wants you on our team.
We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Shop Assistant to help keep our lot running smoothly. In this active, hands-on role, you will inspect, service, and accessorize trailers of all makes and models while enjoying a stable schedule, a supportive team, and opportunities to learn new skills.
What You’ll Be Doing (Hands-On Every Day):
- Assembly & Installation: Use hand and power tools to install parts, accessories, and perform routine service or warranty repairs on trailers.
- Inspections & Quality Control: Perform daily safety inspections on inventory to ensure every trailer meets top quality standards.
- Equipment Operation: Operate lot equipment such as a Kubota yard tractor, welding gear (company certification provided!), and shop tools.
- Inventory & Lot Care: Assist with receiving incoming shipments, organizing inventory, and keeping the lot, shop, and grounds clean, safe, and professional.
- Customer & Team Support: Collaborate with store management, prep trailers for customer walk-throughs, and occasionally assist on the sales floor.
What We Offer You:
- Consistent, Predictable Hours: Enjoy steady daytime shifts you can plan your life around.
- Paid Skill Development: Learn new mechanical systems, trailer service techniques, and get company-certified on specialized shop equipment/welding.
- Active Work Environment: Keep moving and stay engaged—no sitting behind a desk all day.
- Growth Opportunities: We promote from within as our network of national dealerships continues to grow.
Who We’re Looking For:
- Hands-On Experience: Prior experience using hand tools, power tools, or working in light mechanical, assembly, construction, automotive, or grounds maintenance roles.
- Problem-Solvers: Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot issues, read diagrams/manuals, and pay attention to safety details.
- Physical Capability: Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather, climbing ladders/onto trailers, and regularly lifting 50–75 lbs.
- Reliability & Communication: High school diploma (or equivalent), strong work ethic, and positive communication skills with teammates and customers (Spanish fluency is a plus!).
