Multimedia Intern (Remote)

The North American Marine Alliance is looking for a Multimedia Intern to create crisp, stunning graphics and other visuals that support coastal fishing communities and advance our work in food justice and global solidarity.

Our design needs have grown, and this role will help us produce timely, high-quality visuals that strengthen our narrative, outreach, and movement-building.

Projects may include:

  • Branded templates for print, such as for fact sheets, letters, and toolkits
  • Digital graphics for our social media pages, emails, and websites
  • Occasional one-off flyers or graphics to directly support fishers and others
  • Potential for light video editing to assist our visual storyteller

In this role, you'll work closely with our three-person communications team. We'll provide you with: brand guidelines, text, logos, and clear direction — and we welcome your creative input.

You are detail-oriented, organized, collaborative, and excited about using design to uplift communities. You care about social justice, fair food systems, and ecosystems, or all of the above, or you've always wanted to get involved.

Your skills and experience:

  • Working toward or recently completed a degree in graphic design, digital media, communications, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of graphic design experience (as a student or recent graduate)
  • Strong skills in Canva or another straightforward graphic platform
  • Experience designing print and digital branded materials
  • Knowledge of Photoshop or InDesign a plus, but not required
  • Basic to intermediate video editing skills a plus
  • Familiarity with preparing files for print also a plus

If you're unsure whether you meet the above criteria but think you have strong work samples and would be excited to work for us, we encourage you to apply!

Commitment: Flexible, ranging from 3-10 hrs/wk, depending on project sprints.

To apply, please send a half page introduction telling us why you're a good fit for NAMA along with your resume and a link to your portfolio and 3-5 work samples to: feini@namanet.org

The North American Marine Alliance is a fishermen-led alliance building a broad movement for healthy oceans and thriving fishing communities. Through grassroots coalition-building, storytelling, hands-on support, and policy work, we support efforts that protect fishermen, strengthen coastal communities, defend local seafood systems, resist corporate power, and promote food sovereignty.

Our work intersects with racial justice, climate justice, Indigenous sovereignty, and global peasant movements. We create tools, trainings, public education materials, and policy strategies to connect communities, shift narratives, and drive systemic change.
