You've been called to serve others. So have we.
Vertin was founded in 1904 by Joseph Vertin Sr. in Breckenridge, Minnesota, and has grown into one of the largest privately held, family-owned funeral home companies in the Midwest. Today about 700 associates serve families across 80+ locations in 8 states, under trusted local brands.
Our mission is Honoring Lives and Enriching Caregivers. We care for the families we serve and for the people who do this meaningful work. Our locations serve their communities their way, and our Shared Services team provides the backbone that lets them focus on families.
This is your seat. You will shape how Vertin attracts, hires and grows great people.
You are part recruiter, part strategist and fully committed to people. You will partner with Marketing to tell our story as an employer, build a hiring engine that works across 80+ locations. You report to the VP of Administration.
What you'll do:
- Lead talent acquisition strategy for funeral directors, location leaders, part-time associates and Shared Services roles.
- Partner with Marketing to grow the Vertin employer brand, from our career site and social content to associate stories that show why this work matters.
- Create a hiring experience candidates remember for the right reasons: fast, warm and consistent at every location.
- Lead the rollout of our applicant tracking system (ATS) and make it the backbone of how every location hires.
- Be our AI champion for talent acquisition. Explore what is possible, test new tools and bring the best ideas into how we source, screen and engage candidates.
- Strengthen our funeral director pipeline with the Early Careers team, including internships, apprenticeships and mortuary science school relationships.
- Use data to show what is working, including time to fill, source of hire, quality of hire and new hire retention.
